| "In 1952, a group of mothers decided to found an Association with the purpose of supporting children, young people and adults with physical disabilities.
In 1954, under the leadership of Dr. João dos Santos the works of the future Association started.
On the 16th April 1956, Liga Portuguesa dos Deficientes Motores is formally created and its by laws enacted.
During its 4 decades of existence, LPDM has strengthen its project and enlarged its aims in accordance to the social changes and the evolution in the rehabilitation field.
Today LPDM is a Social Resources Centre, committed to promoting the social inclusion of disadvantaged people of all ages and their families, namely people with disabilities and people with chronicle diseases." |
